In Passenger 57, Wesley Snipes taunts the bad guy by telling him to “always bet on black.” It won’t be long not until we find out if his gambling advice is any good because his lawyers just rested their case in his federal tax evasion case without calling a single witness.

Not having been in the courtroom I don’t know if their confidence is justified, or if it’s just a huge bluff. The reality is one of the following: a) the case against Snipes is actually that weak, b) they believe the jury is so far in their pocket they don’t need to mount an actual defense, c) their witnesses weren’t going to say what they hoped, or d) they’re bluffing the jury. I would tend to believe that they believe that his lawyers have some mix of (b) and (d) going on because I find it difficult to believe that federal prosecutors would bring that weak of a case against a celebrity (black or not).

He wasn’t very good in selecting his financial advisors, we’ll soon see if he did any better picking his lawyers…

I suppose we should be surprised, but it was just a matter of time really: Lindsay Lohan cited for drunk driving.

Given that she’s still a tender 20 years old, there’s the additional complication that she’s underage. Hopefully the same judge who sentenced Paris Hilton to jail will catch Lindsay’s case and give her a little “time off” to contemplate her partying ways.

Let’s face it…Lindsay’s trials and tribulations make for great headlines, but at the bottom of it all is out of control little girl who needs a serious wake-up call. Maybe this time our “justice system” will deliver a much needed sobering up…

In another sad tale of someone who has everything and throws it all away, Daniel Baldwin got busted for driving a stolen vehicle and drug possession.

I’d like to say I feel bad for the guy, but I don’t. Here’s a guy who is a member of one the most famous families in Hollywood and who has a host of acting credits to his name. But it’s not enough, so he has to cross the line to get a thrill.

I doubt this is the last time I’ll be writing this headline, as he’ll most likely end up with some slap on the wrist which will only encourage him to go out and do it again.

Russell Crowe is ticked off that his celebrity didn’t buy him immunity from his own stupidity here in the U.S.

After the awful crime of being unable to complete a phone call to Crowe’s wife, Russell Crowe’s misplaced sense of justice drove him to hit an unwitting hotel clerk with a telephone. Now Crowe is outraged (outraged!) that here in the United States there are consequences when you do something that monumentally moronic - even if you’re a big celebrity.

He says:

“Where I come from, a confrontation like that, as basic and simple as that, would have been satisfied with a handshake and an apology.”

Hey Russell, where I come from people aren’t so immature that we hit people with telephones and expect to get away with it scot free…

Snoop Dogg has found himself on the wrong side of the law at an airport for the second time in a month.

This time it was a weapons charge related to an incident in September where he was found in possession of a collapsible baton. Snoop is claiming it was a prop for a music video, but I find that hard to believe.

That being said, it’s doubtful that he’ll face actual jail time for either incident. He’ll probably get probation and have to film a public service announcement or face some other kind of community service.

The real problem he’s facing is that he’s getting a reputation with airport security that’s going to mean extra scrutiny every time he travels. These last two incidents are in addition to previous problems which have already led to him being banned from British Airways flights.

Since 9/11, airport security’s tolerance for misbehavior of any kind has diminished rapidly and it seems that they are keeping a special eye out for Snoop Dogg and his traveling entourage. If he doesn’t change his approach to air travel, he may well find himself having no choice but to take the bus instead…

In a “Duh” moment for law enforcement, Snoop Dogg was arrested for suspicion of illegal drug and gun possession.

The only real question here is: Why now? The name Snoop Dogg is virtually synonomous with smoking marijuana and has been for more than a decade. Every song, every appearance, virtually every other word out of his mouth is all about smoking weed. He is rarely without his ubiquitous blunt, but all of a sudden he gets arrested for it.

I’m not saying he should get special treatment for doing something that you or I would have been locked up for long ago, I just want to know why they let it slide for so long and now want to do something about it all of a sudden. I can only guess that there was some kind of dust-up between him and his people and the law enforcement that showed up to tell him not to park his car in the loading zone. Maybe they should have just apologized for the mistake and moved the car…

Rapper Lil Wayne has found himself some big trouble in the form of drug possession charges after being arrested in Atlanta.

The police say that he was found with several drugs in his possession. So this isn’t just your run-of-the-mill “celebrity caught with marijuana” situation. There were no details initially available as to exactly which drugs he had on him, but the fact that there were more than one is suggestive of some sort of drug dependence issue going on.

We’ll have to wait and see if he takes the typical celebrity route and announces that he’s entering rehab…Stay tuned…
